App: Ebeveynim (com.barisakca.ebeveyn) — Provider: Barış Akça — Contact: destek@ebeveynim.tr
Last updated: 4 November 2026

This is an English translation for convenience. The Turkish version is the governing text.

IMPORTANT: Ebeveynim is NOT an emergency, first aid, health monitoring or security/alarm app, and it is not an emergency line. In an emergency, always use the official emergency numbers. Ebeveynim is a calling and messaging app designed for communication within families.

1. Nature of the service

Ebeveynim is a communication app that lets elders call their family and send and receive voice and text messages using big buttons and voice commands, and lets family members receive some informational notifications (such as a message being played, low battery, or the phone not being used for a long time).

2. Interruptions and delays

The service depends on the internet connection, mobile operators, third-party infrastructure such as Google, Apple, Supabase, LiveKit and RevenueCat, the phone being on and charged, the phone manufacturer's battery saving settings, and the app itself. For these reasons:

Reminder alarm: do not set alarms for vital matters such as medication. The app relies on the internet; if there's an outage the alarm may not ring. We strongly advise against using it this way. Use reminders for things like: "Doctor's appointment at 2 pm", "Grandchild's birthday, call them", "Pay the bill", "The neighbour is coming, open the door".

A notification not arriving does not mean the person is well; a notification arriving does not mean the person is unwell. Do not rely on this app for anyone's health or safety; keep in direct contact regularly.

3. Limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the provider is not liable for any direct or indirect damage arising from the use of or inability to use the app, from messages and notifications not arriving, arriving late or being wrong, from the wrong person being called, or from data loss. Liability arising from the provider's intent or gross negligence is reserved.

4. Message content

Because messages are end-to-end encrypted, the provider cannot see or moderate message content and is not responsible for it. Only the sender is responsible for the content of a message. Using the app in a way that is unlawful, harassing, fraudulent or that violates others' rights is prohibited; if such use is detected, the account may be suspended without prior notice.

Video calls are not recorded, monitored or moderated by the provider; participants are responsible for what they say and show. Recording a call, or sharing a screenshot or recording of it, without the knowledge and consent of the other participants is prohibited and may create liability under personal data protection law.

5. Confidential information

Although the app uses strong encryption, no software is completely unbreakable. Do not share confidential and important information such as bank and card details, passwords, ID numbers, health information or trade secrets through this app.

6. Setup and permissions

Setup on the elder's phone must be done by a family member who physically holds the phone, with the elder's knowledge and consent. Using the app to monitor a person without their knowledge and consent is prohibited. When someone new joins the family, all family members are notified.

7. Account, PIN and changing phones

Each user enters their phone number and chooses a 4-digit PIN at sign-up; on the elder's phone this is done by the family member doing the setup. Only one account can be created per phone number. When the app is reinstalled or the phone is changed, signing in with the same number and PIN returns you to the same family, contacts and plan. If the phone's secure storage has a record, sign-in happens automatically.

Keeping the PIN safe and not sharing it is the user's responsibility; we recommend writing it down. For security, the PIN cannot be reset by SMS or email. A family member who forgets their PIN can rejoin the family by scanning the QR code on the elder's phone again. If the elder's PIN is forgotten and there is no record on the phone, the elder's phone must be set up from scratch; in that case a new family is created, family members need to join again, and the plan of the old family is not automatically transferred to the new one.

Messages that arrived before signing in again but were not yet opened may not open on the new installation because of end-to-end encryption. When changing phones, the app on the old phone must be deleted; if the same account stays open on two phones, messages and notifications reach only the phone that signed in last.

8. Subscription

New families try every feature except video calls free for 14 days; video calls are available only on paid plans. The free trial is given once per elder phone; reinstalling the app does not start a new trial. If no plan is chosen when the trial ends, the app can't be used until a plan is chosen. Account and family details are not deleted; once a plan is bought, the app opens where you left off. Subscriptions are bought, managed and cancelled through Google Play on Android and the App Store on iPhone; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Refund requests are subject to the policies of the relevant store. For purchases made through the App Store, Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies.

The subscription belongs to the family. For each family, only one family member buys the subscription with their own store account; the plan applies to the elder(s) and all family members of that family. The elder and other family members do not pay separately. Changing, renewing and cancelling the plan can only be done from the buyer's store account. If more than one person buys for the same family, each is charged as a separate subscription; to prevent this, the app hides the buy buttons while the family has an active plan, asks "Has anyone else in your family bought a plan?" before purchase, and notifies all family members when a plan is bought. If two people still bought one, the later buyer should cancel their own subscription in their store. Refunds of such duplicate payments are subject to the refund policies of the relevant store (Google Play / App Store).

9. Rights and limits by plan

The rights and limits below apply to prevent abuse and keep the service working well for everyone. Daily limits reset at midnight Türkiye time.

In every plan: up to 60 messages or requests an hour; while a location, photo request or "Call me" is unanswered, a new one can't be sent to the same person for 30 minutes; photo requests are limited to 10 a day for the elder and 3 a day per elder for family members; up to 10 reminders per elder; live location lasts up to 1 hour. A video always goes to one person; there is no "video to everyone".

Video calls: monthly minutes are shared by everyone in the family and renew at the start of each month (Turkey time); unused minutes do not carry over. Time counts while at least two people are in the call; time with guests is also deducted from the family. About 2 minutes before the minutes run out, everyone in the call is warned; when they run out the call ends automatically; until the end of the month a new call can only be started with extra minutes. A call can have at most 8 people, and a family can have at most 2 calls at the same time. Picture quality is limited to keep the connection smooth. If the person being video-called does not use the app, or the plan does not include video calls, the elder’s phone places a normal phone call instead, which may be charged to the elder’s line.

Extra video call minutes: families with a plan can buy one-time "+30 minutes" in the app, as many times as they like. Extra minutes are only for video calls, never expire (they are not reset at the end of the month) and are shared by everyone in the family. The plan’s monthly minutes are used first, then the extra minutes. Extra minutes can be used while the family plan is active; if the plan ends, remaining extra minutes are kept and can be used when a plan is bought again. Extra minutes cannot be transferred to another family or exchanged for cash; they are deleted when the account is deleted. Purchases and refunds follow Google Play or App Store rules; the remaining minutes of a refunded purchase are taken back. Extra minutes are only for video calls; every other feature in the plan is included in the subscription and is not charged extra.

Guests by link: only family members can create a guest link during a call; the elder’s screen has no such option. A link is valid for 30 minutes and for one person; the guest cannot join until a family member in the call taps “Accept”. Up to 2 guests can join a call. Guests do not need to install the app or create an account, but must read and accept the privacy notice before joining. The family member who creates a link is responsible for whom they share it with; do not share links with people you don’t know.

Who receives it? "Everyone" sends to everyone in the family including other elders; "Everyone except elders" ("Family members" / "Message my children" on the elder's screen) sends to family members only.

Storage: No message history is kept. Photos and videos are end-to-end encrypted, deleted from the server once opened, and kept only on the recipient's phone (the last 5 from each person).

10. Changes and governing law

These terms may be updated; important changes are announced in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Consumers' statutory rights are reserved.
